Ferrari has two of the first three qualifying places. If that order survives grid changes and the opening lap, both cars can shape the leaders’ first-stop responses; one-lap speed alone does not establish their race pace. The disqualified result is excluded from the competitive qualifying order. These corrected places are qualifying positions; they do not confirm the final starting grid.

Saturday eased Mexico’s tyre-life concern

Pirelli’s post-qualifying assessment reported no significant abrasion or graining, a change from Friday. Its dry-race simulations put a C4 Medium–C5 Soft one-stop and C5–C4–C5 two-stop at similar total times. The C3 Hard looked less competitive, with an early neutralisation a possible reason to reconsider it.

Track position strengthens the one-stop case. Paying for another stop needs usable fresh-tyre pace and a clear rejoin, rather than an assumption that Friday’s graining persists.

Mexico: cooling and traction before headline downforce

Mexico City’s thin air weakens cooling and downforce at the same time. A large rear wing here does not mean the car has the grip it would have at sea level. The useful comparison is how well each car keeps its tyres and brakes under control through the slower corners while preserving speed along the main straight. Cooling openings are often circuit-specific changes, so a bigger outlet should not automatically be read as a new aerodynamic upgrade.

Thin air makes cooling and traction the useful car-fit tests here; straight-line speed alone does not show who can sustain a stint.
